Books I Recommend

July 7th, 2008 at 12:03 pm

These are books that have helped me many times in my life.

'The Tightwad Gazette' by Amy Dacyczyn
To me, it's like a frugal living bible. I was a subscriber to her newsletter. Purchased her books which I re-read every 6 months or so.

'The Use-It-Up Cookbook' by Lois Carlson Willand.

'Will It Freeze?' by Joan Hood

'Stories and Recipes of the Great Depression of the 1930's' by Janet Van Amber Paske (3 Volumes)

And lets not forget the Ball Blue Book for Home Canning!

I can't find my Ball Blue Book for Home Canning! A super resource on canning and food preservation is the "Harvest" forum at gardenweb.com

Thanks for the website! I'll check it out!
I got my Ball Canning Book years ago. Bought a case of jars and there was this postcard offer in the box. I also have my grandmothers Ball Book, a treasured possession since she wrote beside the ones that were her favorites and added other comments.

I have a Blue Book! I have only canned one recipe from it (blueberry/lime jam), but it was good Smile
